Evocative is the first word to spring to mind when looking through Aida Tomescu’s work. Full of life and movement, her paintings are creations that evolve over time. Layers and layers of paint are applied on top of one another, then scraped back and thoughtfully re-applied over and over. As the form of one work begins to evolve, it spurs on the beginning of another and then another, producing a united collection of robust oil paintings.

Aida has won a host of awards, including the Wynne Award, and finalist for the Sulman & Dobell prizes.

Aida Tomescu’s upcoming exhibition at the Greenaway Art Gallery will run from 27 June – 22 July 2012.
