Storage Ideas for the Home

At the start of each year I make a new years resolution to keep the house in order, keep it tidy and super organised. I just love that clean feeling! When I say organised I don’t mean lining my shelves with colour co-ordinated books and clothes hanging in the wardrobe from shortest to the longest, I just mean keeping things where I can find them again and only keeping what I really need, no excess clutter or junk.

We were laughing in the office last week about when I was living in the US and I became a little obsessed with Martha Stewart, the queen of organisation, she made me feel like absolute mess! Here we take a look at some of my favourite organised spaces from home offices to garages. Once the overwhelming ‘Martha’ feeling subsided and I broke it all down there are 3 key tips I can comfortably share:

  1. Labelled storage boxes with lids are the perfect solution for all your ‘stuff’ including kids arts & crafts, bathroom bits & pieces, home office accessories and garage tools.
  2. I always keep loose papers and brochures in Ikea magazine files
  3. Keep kids toys in storage baskets and boxes
  4. Invest in a few floating shelves, the Ikea Lack shelves are perfect, and display your favourite pieces

So once again, as we enter a new year, let’s have a go and see how long we can last.
