Babylonstoren Farm in Cape Winelands, South Africa
In the Cape Winelands of South Africa lies the Babylonstoren Farm – 200 hectares of absolute natural beauty.
Babylonstoren Farm is a stunning little gem that is far from typical. It is crisp, fresh, and pure, offering the chance to escape city madness to be completely submerged in a wholesome and natural environment.
The property has an incredible history dating back to 1652, which has been embraced and echoed through the design and ethos of what it is today. Each building holds original character with organic white washed walls, original ornate details, gables, and perfectly thatched roofs. Guest suites are refreshing and easily tie together the history with the world that we live in today – Magis Steelwood chairs look at home with the original character of the buildings.
Perhaps the most loved and admired part of Babylonstoren Farm is the luscious green gardens. Almost completely edible, they offer natural fruit orchids, vineyards, and vegetable gardens spanning as far as they eye can see. The gardens are fed straight from natural springs, as they have been for over 300 years! Every day, the crop is picked and sent straight to the restaurant, where everything served is completely seasonal and fresh – veggies are picked cleaned and served – no fuss!
And, we can’t forget the sweet gaggle of ducks who some say are the most important resident of all! They are just as lucky as guests, with their home among the fresh white washed walls.
