Ghent Apartments by Designer Frederic Hooft
Belgian designer Frederic Hooft has a talent for creating interiors which are as cool, casual, and authentic as he is.
Based in Belgium, Hooft has made his mark in the small town of Ghent, where he has converted and revived a number of precious interiors including a 16th Century house which he now resides in, and the Ghent Apartment which you may have seen in our Share Design Styles.
Each interior captures and preserves existing features, but Hooft’s deep passion for authentic quality furniture seemingly transforms them in to a completely different experience. His design style is distinct but clearly not precious, which all comes down to his love of collecting pieces from all corners of the globe, from the 40’s until today. French antiques, Japanese handicrafts, and European minimalism create a feeling that the space has evolved gently over time. Oddly enough, Hooft’s obvious mix of styles is completely cohesive.
We’ve had so much fun creating our storyboards lately, that we couldn’t resist creating one for Frederic Hooft’s design style, and while we could have included so many more pieces, we limited ourselves to six items, including a B&B Italia Le Bombole Sofa, Fritz Hansen PK91 Stool, Artek Chair 66, Behruz Heriz Persia Rug, and a Flos Parentesi Suspension Lamp.
